Create a flight information display system that utilizes typographic hiearchy and a grid system to facilitate accessbility and readbility for a diverse array of users.
App Audit:
Upon reviewing Hartsfield-Jackson’s current app design, these central pain-points were found.
Type Hierarchy Ideation:
Type ideation began with experimenting with a one size of a single typeface in order to figure out spacing and information placement. Then, I gradually incorporated larger type sizes and different type styles to increase legibility and establish a typographic hierarchy.
Typography:
Staaliches was chosen as the header font for its boldness and resemblance to midcentury flight tickets, giving a classic feel to the airport experience for users.
Atkinson Hyperlegible was chosen for the body copy due to its design’s emphasis on legibility for a diverse audience, catering to differently-abled individuals with a variety of reading preferences.
Color Palette:
Light, calm tones were emphasized to encourage a smooth and easy-going airport experiences for users. Contrast was created with black, dark blue, and bright red to draw attention to key information and establish a subtle brand identity.
